The social rankings in Mesopotamia were not confusing, nor complicated at all and were easy to understand. The social rankings were divided into three categories: Upper, Middle, and Lower.
In the upper class, there were the kings and priests. These groups of people were the most powerful. In the middle class, there were scribes, farmers, merchants, and artisans. The scribes wrote stories, the merchants sold goods, and the artisans made goods. In the lower class, there were slaves who worked on said farms.
